Keep the toys as toys

Free, yet still for over-18s only

Social casino games borrow the look, the sound and the pace of real gambling. Spinning Top Parade is meant only for adults over the legal gambling age and is not aimed at anyone under 18. Age is checked twice: first on the banner you see as you come in, and again with a tick you must give when you open your account.

Things Cornelius will never do

• Offer or encourage real-money gambling of any kind.
• Put up any prize of real-world value.
• Sell coins, or set up in-app purchases.
• Send you on to gambling operators or their affiliates.
• Use countdowns or streaks to nag you back to the counter.

A straight warning from the workbench

A free game can be set to feel generous, and it fills your balance back up for nothing. Real-money games do neither. Doing well here tells you nothing about how you would fare with money at stake.

When the top starts to wobble

• Playing on well past the time you meant to stop.
• Feeling snappy or on edge when you stop.
• Spinning tops to dodge a bad mood.
• It is eating into your sleep, your work or your time with people.
• You go hunting for a version of the tops played with real money.

Keeping your hand on the brass key

• Choose your stopping time before you wind the first top.
• Spin by hand, with autoplay left off.
• Step away for breaks, and often.
• To start from nothing, clear this site’s data; to stop for good, block the site in your device settings.
